Dr. Mark Mehler Appointed Chair
Mark Mehler, MD, has been named Chairman of the Saul R. Korey Departments of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Mehler succeeds Dr. Herbert Schaumburg, who served as Chair for almost 20 years. Dr. Mehler went to Medical School at Einstein, did his residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital and then a clinical fellowship in medicine at Harvard Medical School. He then returned to Einstein to complete his residency in neurology and also served as Chief Resident. He has been at Einstein for 20 years and has held many positions including founding Director of Einstein’s Institute for Brain Disorders and Neural Regeneration. His current research focuses on understanding the causes of nervous system diseases and devising innovative strategies to promote nerve-cell regeneration.
Dr. Mehler commented on the Department and his goals for it: “Saul R.
