ELECTION FOR PRESIDENT OF THE WFN IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) is the largest association of neurologic societies in the world. There are currently 94 national societies affiliated with the WFN, including the AAN, which is the largest contributor of annual dues. The WFN reaches thousands of neurologists and neuroscientists in all five continents and has become an influential body in the destinies of neurology, particularly in developing countries. WFN collaborates intimately with the World Health Organization (WHO) and as an officially recognized Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is entitled to a seat in the Medical Assembly of WHO. The WFN is growing, and its potential embrace is much bigger than its present reach. The leadership that will direct the course of the WFN over the next 4 years will be elected at the Council of Delegates Annual General Meeting during the World Congress of Neurology in Sydney, Australia, in November 2005. In consideration of the importance of this election, the International Newsletter has invited the three presidential candidates endorsed by the WFN Nominating Committee to submit statements for publication in the Newsletter. Should additional presidential candidates be accepted through alternate nominating pathways for inclusion in the November election, the International Newsletter will consider inviting them to describe their proposed presidential program. Submission specifications:
- Submissions must be < 200 words with < 5 references. Reference 1 must be the article on which you are commenting.
- Submissions should not have more than 5 authors. (Exception: original author replies can include all original authors of the article)
- Submit only on articles published within 6 months of issue date.
- Do not be redundant. Read any comments already posted on the article prior to submission.
- Submitted comments are subject to editing and editor review prior to posting.
