Dr. Vollmer named Chair at Barrow
⇓Timothy L. Vollmer, MD was recently appointed Chairman of the Division of Neurology and Chief of Neuroimmunology at the Barrow Neurological Institute. Vollmer came from Yale where he was Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurology and Director of the MS Research Center. He is extensively published and has participated in numerous clinical trials of potential new therapies for MS. He was also a part of the team that made medical history by transplanting autologous myelin-forming cells into a human brain in an attempt to repair a lesion caused by MS. “I’ve decided to come to Barrow for several reasons. It’s an excellent place to develop a clinical program, it has great potential for collaboration, and the research environment is very rich,” said Dr. Vollmer.
Drs. Kenton and Vick recognized for service to the ABPN
⇓Dr. Edgar Kenton was elected to serve as President of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) effective January 1, 2003. Dr. Kenton has been with the ABPN for 7 years and has served as Secretary of the Board. He has also served on many of the committees including the Finance Committee, the Appeals Committee, and the Subcommittee for Research and Development on Standardized Patients. Dr. Kenton is also a key liaison with the American Board of Anesthesia and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) on issues related to both pain medicine and brain injury.
⇓Dr. Nicholas Vick is finishing his 8th and final year of service as an ABPN Neurology Director. He continues to serve as the Vice President of the Board and as the Chair of the Neurology Council. He also serves on numerous Committees of the ABPN including Finance Committee, the Maintenance of Certification Committee, and the Nominating Committee.
