Munschauer Named Chair at SUNY Buffalo
Frederick E. Munschauer, MD, was named Chair of the Department of Neurology at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo School of Medicine. He had been serving as interim chair since the death of Lawrence Jacobs, MD. Dr. Munschauer is also Director and Founder of the Research Center for Stroke and Heart Disease at Kaleida Health in Buffalo. In addition, he is the Chief of the Jacobs Neurological Institute at Kaleida Health. His research interests include vascular disease prevention, healthcare delivery, and multiple sclerosis. He is involved in a number of clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr Munschauer lectures nationally and internationally on the use of IFN-b1a in patients with MS and is considered one of the leaders in the field of MS treatment.
New Fellows of the AAN Named
Each year, the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) awards a select number of members to “Fellow” status. Of this honor, Kenneth L. Tyler, MD, Chair of the Membership Committee of the AAN states, “The AAN awards fellowship status to active members whose contributions to the profession and to the academy identify them as leaders in our profession and who have demonstrated special achievement in neuroscience.
