11th EUROPEAN STROKE CONFERENCE
The 11th European Stroke Conference will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, May 29–June 1, 2002. Main themes are acute stroke treatment, imaging of stroke, and prevention strategies, as well as new topics such as sleep and stroke and behavioral changes after stroke. The conference organizers expect 2,000 registrants, making this the largest annual gathering in the world of stroke specialists. Three-quarters of registrants are expected to come from European countries and the remainder from 20 countries outside of Europe, including the United States. Registrants from North America may get the additional bonus of American Medical Association CME credits. All will enjoy Geneva and its environs, a city centrally located in Europe with excellent communications and a transport system well known for its punctuality.
Professor Julien Bogousslavsky⇓ is chairman of the Program Committee. He states that the conference format will meet the expectations of registrants, both in efficiency and in conviviality, and will include an unforgettable social program. The European Stroke Conference has grown considerably from its first meeting in Düsseldorf in 1990 with only 300 registrants. Founded by Profs. Bogousslavsky and Michael Hennerici of Mannheim, Germany, the aim of the conferences has been to provide an annual European forum for scientific presentations in stroke medicine.
