Anderson Named Chair at University of Minnesota
David C. Anderson, MD, was named Chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Minnesota on September 15, 2001. Dr. Anderson has been a faculty member at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) since completing his residency at Minnesota under A.B. Baker. He remains Chief of Neurology at HCMC in his new role. Dr. Anderson’s special interests and research include medical education, stroke, and health services. “We will strive to be a department that provides outstanding clinical service and inspiring teaching programs. Further strengthening existing subspecialty programs and developing several new ones is key. At the same time, we hope to maintain and build upon the strong basic science programs established and nurtured by my predecessors.”
New Chair of Neurosciences Named at New Jersey
Patrick Pullicino, MD, was named Chair of the Department of Neurosciences at the New Jersey Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey effective November 1, 2001. He will replace Dr. Stuart Cook who was Chair for 27 years. Dr. Pullicino has been at the State University of New York at Buffalo since 1989, where he was Director of the Residency and Stroke Programs. Dr. Pullicino is a graduate of the University of Malta and trained under Luis Vassallo. He is currently the recipient of a multicenter clinical NIH grant to study the effects of warfarin and aspirin on stroke and death in patients with low cardiac ejection fraction. “I would like the department to be nationally recognized for excellence in clinical neurology and as a model for collaborative research between clinical and basic neuroscience.”
