Carol F. Lippa, MD, was recently named Chief of MCP Neurology at MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. Dr. Lippa has been with MCP Hahnemann since 1996. Her research focuses on the causes of AD and related neuro-degenerative diseases and she has coauthored numerous papers on the subject. She has been the recipient of four current grants, including a five-year NIH grant addressing the neurobiology of AD. She is Editor of the Rapid Communications section of the American Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders.
Frank M. Longo, MD, PhD, has been named Chair of the Department of Neurology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, effective July 1. His title is H. Houston Merritt Distinguished Professor of Neurology. Dr. Longo comes from the University of California at San Francisco where he had been since his residency and had become Professor and Vice Chair of the department in 1999. He is an internationally recognized investigator in the areas of neurodegenerative disease and particularly the causes of AD. Longo was also the former director of the Neurogenetics Clinic at UCSF, the first such clinic in California to offer genetic testing for Huntington’s disease. In addition, he was the Chief of Neurology and Rehabilitation Service and Associate Chief of Staff of Research and Development at the San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center.
