We did not find any significant effects of weight change on the progression of other nonmotor symptoms.Discussion Early weight loss was associated with a faster progression of decline in global cognitive function and executive function in patients with PD, whereas early weight gain was associated with a slower progression of decline in processing speed and attention. The impact of early weight change on nonmotor symptoms seemed to be specific to cognition.BJLO=Benton Judgment of Line Orientation; BMI=body mass index; ESS=Epworth Sleepiness Scale; GDS=Geriatric Depression Scale; HVLT=Hopkins Verbal Learning Test; LNS=Letter-Number Sequencing; MoCA=Montreal Cognitive Assessment; MMSE=Mini-Mental State Examination; PD=Parkinson disease; PPMI=Parkinson Progression Markers Initiative; RBDSQ=REM Sleep Behavior Disorder Screening Questionnaire; SCOPA-AUT=Scale for Outcomes in Parkinson disease-Autonomic; SDMT=Symbol Digit Modalities Test; SFT=Semantic Fluency Test ER -
