Dr. Carlos Kase named Chair of Neurology
Dr. Carlos S. Kase was recently named Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Kase joined the Department of Neurology in 1984 where he continues as Professor of Neurology and Associate Professor of Pathology. Professional interests include cerebrovascular diseases, performing clinical studies and clinicopathologic correlations in intracerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction. Research activities have included participation in multicenter studies such as the Stroke Data Bank (National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke), epidemiologic studies such as the Framingham Study, and multiple therapeutic trials. Dr. Kase is an Editorial Board Member of Stroke and Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases. Honors include teaching awards from medical students at the University of South Alabama and from neurology residency trainees at Boston University. In February 2002, Dr. Kase was named Doctor Honoris Causa at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
