NEW CHAIR NAMED
Dr. Joseph C. Masdeu was appointed Chairman of Neurology and Director of the Neuroscience Center at the University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain, beginning January 1, 2000. The newly restructured Center includes Departments and Divisions of Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Neuroanatomy, Neurochemistry, Neuroimmunology, Neurology, Neuropathology, Neuropharmacology, Neurophysiology, Neuroradiology, and Neurosurgery. The Medical Center, one of the most advanced in Europe, has facilities for DNA sequencing, a primate colony, PET, functional and intraoperative MRI, and radiosurgery. A native of Spain, Dr. Masdeu had been the Chairman of Neurology at New York Medical College since 1990. He is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and several books including Localization in Clinical Neurology and Gait Disorders of Aging. He is the Coordinating Editor of the Hypertext Neurology Knowledge base (ThyNK) and Chairman of the Neuroimaging Research Group of the World Federation of Neurology. FIGURE
